Eliminate to illuminate

I've been reading a lot lately about the need to eliminate the clutter in life. It bogs you down, wreaks havoc on your ability to focus and can be distracting.   Elimination is one of the four key tenets of Tim Ferriss' Four Hour Work Week.    Decide what's really important in your life, your job and find a way to get rid of the rest.   In terms of what you eat....now is the perfect time to detox and eliminate toxins.  According to Ayurveda and Chinese medicine, the change of the seasons is the time to clear out the past and create space for the future.  Eliminate heavy, greasy foods and high-processed food in order to create mental clarity and improve your ability to focus, plan and make decisions.  Eliminate to illuminate!

I endulged in a "Chicken TBM" -- that's chicken, tomato, basil and mozzarella -- sandwich at Cosi the other day. I forgot to check the nutritional info before I left the office.Too bad I didn't have these numbers in my head...I would have picked something else. Here's what one Chicken TBM sandwich packs on in one serving: a 10 ounce-serving has 791 calories, 43 grams of fat and more than 1100 mg of sodium!  According to David Zinczenko's new book, "Eat This, Not That!" - a better option would've been the Bombay Chicken Salad with fat free dressing and a cup of Pollo e Pasta soup (294 calories and 5 grams of fat).
