A
new survey from Peapod,
a leading Internet grocer, found that 63 percent of workers find it
hard to eat healthy in the workplace. And the number one food that
they wanted in the workplace? Fresh produce. How often does your office
serve fresh fruit or veggies? You're all set if you have a
Whole Foods in
walking distance, or lucky enough to have a fruit vendor on the street
corner. Or, you can logon to Peapod.com and order some!

I picked up some fresh basil at the grocery store and made an outstanding batch of homemade pesto.
Here's the recipe:
Cut up a bunch of fresh basil
add 1-2 cups of parmesan cheese (cut into chunks)
add one package of pine nuts
add 1-2 cloves of garlic
Blend
in a food processor. Drizzle in olive oil, until mixture is creamy.
Alternatively -- if you make a large batch, skip the olive oil and
freeze it. When it's ready for use, then add the olive oil.

This morning at work, I mustered up enough discipline to walk away from our team's donut box, empty handed. About
10:30 am, I was hungry for breakfast and again, said no to the one
lonely donut that was left in the box. Instead, I opted for a bowl of
Cocoa Krispies. Better choice? Surprisingly, it was NOT! That bowl of
cereal (not counting the soy milk) is 250 calories and a whopping 29
grams of sugar...while one glazed cruller from Krispy Kreme is 240 calories, but only 14 grams of sugar. No wonder I hit a nasty sugar crash.

I tried a recipe from the book "
The Skinny: How to Fit into Your Little Black Dress Forever" and
this side dish combo was excellent: Caramelized Pineapple with
Radicchio. The recipe calls for 1 large pineapple, Tabasco, 2 tsp.
olive oil, 1 tsp. sugar and 1 head of radicchio thinly sliced. Cube
the pineapple and mix with the Tabasco, olive oil and sugar, transfer
to a baking sheet and broil until golden brown (7-10 minutes.)
Transfer to a bowl and add the sliced radicchio, add salt to taste.
Great taste and good for you!

My nine-month old nephew turned me on to a new yogurt from
Stony Field Farms.
After feeding him "Yo Baby" yogurt for breakfast and lunch, I'd figure
I'd give it a try. They have a tasty soy yogurt called
O'Soy.
It's not bad for soy...and at 100 calories a serving, has 5 grams of
protein, calcium and iron and only 13 grams of sugar. Yo Baby, it's
soy!
